英文学概要を英語のみで教えるにあたり、本校で用いた手法について説明する。日本の大学においてEAP (English for Academic Purposes: 学問上の目的のための英語)への感心が高まっているが、カリキュラムにコンテントベースの講義を加えるには、相応の配慮と計画を要し、多くの要素を考慮する必要がある。本稿では、まず、コンテントベースの大学レベルEFLコースに関する問題点について指摘する。次に、コース設計とオリジナル教材開発についての詳説をし、最後に、英語で講義を受けた学生の理解度測定結 で締めくくる。

The purpose of this report is to describe the methodology used to teach a Survey of British Literature course at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture (SUAC). Before explaining the steps taken to design the course and create original materials for it, issues related to content-based university-level EFL courses will be introduced. There has been an increased interest in teaching English for Academic Purposes at Japanese universities; however, adding content-based courses to the curriculum requires care and planning. This report addresses a number of factors that need to be considered when delivering academic content to students in a foreign language. To conclude the report, survey results measuring student comprehension of the English lectures will be presented.
