What is remarkable about America is the fact that it is the most religious of all nations, while enjoying the role of being the sole super power in international wealth and politics. We can find the cause in American religion, Puritanism, which originated in the Reformation in Northern Europe. Especially in American Puritanism, human history of salvation and damnation has been interpreted as a very secular one quite peculiar to America due to their translation of the Calvinistic idea of predestination that eternal life is foreordained for some and eternal damnation for others, and this deeply affects professional ethics in the American mind. Prosperity has allured increasing numbers of immigrants of various races from all over the world, which has led to the creation of American democracy. This has also developed, however, the American tendency to see the world simply in terms of the principle of good and evil.
