Abstract

According to Course of Study, each school should be committed to enhancing its instruction to enable students to acquire basic fundamental knowledge and skills, to foster their abilities to think, to make decisions, to express themselves and other abilities that are necessary to solve problems. The use of acquired knowledge and skills can cultivate an attitude of proactive learning and develop students’ individuality.  Therefore, to cultivate positive personal and collaborative relationships among students through communication will be more important than current methods of teaching. In this study we examined how to communicate with each other effectively through the class debate. As a result, we found that it was necessary not only to teach the skills of communication intensively, but also pay closer attentions to the students’ reactions. And it was also important to consider a topic of discussion. Furthermore, we noted we should make the new materials focus on the development of speaking and listening abilities to foster the active class debate.
