Constituent particles of 125-250 um in size of 16 sandy sediments from 6 localities and2 muddy sediments from 2 localities were observed under a petrographic microscope. Thesediments were sampled from the Ko-biwako group in the Nango area, Otsu city, ShigaPrefecture, southwest Japan. The results of modal analyses, analyses with an electronprobe microanalyser for alkali feldspar, and XRF analyses of mud samples are given inthis paper. In addition, several implications of the results to sedimentary environments in Pleictocene Ko-biwako (ancient Lake Biwa) are mentioned.
