This paper is an attempt to propose a teaching method of analyzing Japanese syntax, originated by the author ofthese lines,by demonstrating that the teaching method is most effective and is readily learned by learners of Japanese.This teaching method is created on the basis of Motoki Tokieda’s notion of the nested (入子型)syntactic structurewhich is distinctively made up of content words(詞)and function words(辞). This teaching method helps learnersof Japanese beware of Japanese syntactic structure as the distinctive Japanese syntactic feature. Thus, this methodeventually helps to enable them to acquire practical skills of Japanese more readily than the conventional teachingmethods do. A survey was made before and after the nested Japanese sentence structure was explained to thestudents. It turned out that they were better able to understand Japanese sentences after the explanation was made.
