In February 2012, I visited Flinders University in the State of South Australia and held an interview with Associate Professor Linda Starr and Dr. Lynette Cusack about the Nurse or Midwife's license system in that country. They said Nurse or Midwife's license system had been changed since July 2011. This was done by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act of 2008 and the establishment of the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency, a single national registration and accreditation scheme for health practitioners. By 2013, Sixteen Health Professionals classifications across Australia will need to meet national requirements to be registered. It will, thus, become obligatory to undertake twenty hours learning(= Continuing Professional Development) every year and submit Mandatory Reports. They also said everything mentioned above is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to ensure the best practice in the medical regulations of Australia.
