抄録

`Kazusa-Bori'is a drilling device for water, developed in the period 1880-1896 on the basis of the small-scale technique of boring for water, which is called `Ôsaka-fashion'. In order to detect the origin of Kazusa-Bori, we need first to understand what this Ôsaka-fashion really was. This paper looks at the drilling devices for water in Japan in search of the origin of Kazusa-Bori.
