Abstract
Submarine fumaroles was surveyed by using echo-sounder of training ship Nansei Maru, off Yamagawa Port located at a mouth of Kagoshima Bay in 2012 similar to a study by Fukuda et al. (2011)1). The submarine fumaroles were checked visually, when ROV was sunk in the point where the reflective image was obtained by echo-sounder, so this approach is effective to search the submarine fumaroles. It found by attached temperature gauge of ROV that water temperature in an upwelling of a submarine fumarole indicates 27ºC which is 9ºC higher than the surrounding area. Forty five points of submarine fumaroles were searched by echo-sounder. It is found that thirty nine points of them were concentrated in the narrow area within 500m radius around location at 31°-11′.7N, 130°-40′.4E (WGS).
