日本の近代化は、明治政府の成立により始まった。その明治政府は、成立元年から助産師の職業について言及した政令を発令し、10数年後においては助産師業務や教育に関する法規を定めた。教育制度が整備される中で学校教育を終えた助産師を「新助産師」と呼び、江戸時代(封建時代)から存在して無資格の助産師を「旧助産師」と呼び区別していた。助産師の教育は、一般教養と専門知識、実習などが組まれていた。当時の助産師教育に大きな影響を与えたのは、「朱氏産婆論」であり、その後著された産婆テキストは、「朱氏産婆論」の影響を大きく受けていた。「朱氏産婆論」をテキストとして助産師教育を受け、卒後助産師として活動し、助産師学校の教員となった笹川美寿が助産師向けに助産師のあり方を著した。本研究では、「朱氏産婆論」と笹川美寿の「産婆十戒」との比較を通して、当時の助産師が職業倫理をどのように教えられ、どのように考えられたのかを分析する。当時の職業倫理の分析を通して、現代における助産師の倫理を考察する。

The modernization of Japan started with the establishment of the Meiji Government in 1868. In the very year of its foundation, the Government issued an ordinance concerning the profession of midwife. Over a decade later, it enacted laws and regulations governing the practice and the education of midwives. As the system of education was developed and improved, a distinction was made between modern midwives, who had completed formal schooling, and traditional midwives, who had worked unlicensed with women since the feudal Edo period. Education for midwives included general academic subjects, specialized knowledge, and practical training. The education of midwives in those days was greatly influenced by Shushi Sambaron (Schultze's Midwifery), which had a profound impact on later textbooks. Misu Sasagawa was a midwife trained with Shushi Sambaron as a textbook. After completing her midwifery education, she practiced midwifery and became a midwifery school teacher, and put into writing her views on the ideal midwife. This study aims to analyze how professional ethics were taught to and understood by midwives at that time through a comparison between Shushi Sambaron and Sasakawa's Samba Jukkai (Ten Rules for Midwives). It also examines the ethics of midwives in the present day through an analysis of the professional ethics held in those days.
