Description
This paper aims to clarify the learning methods of working skills at the stage of childcare. For this purpose, I interviewed 10 women who had experience of working as white-collar workers while rearing children under 6 years old. As the results of analyses, following things were derived. (1) They acquired such skills as operational efficiency (getting things done through others, sifting, prioritizing, time management), successful human relationship (endurance, listening and understanding for diversity), stress controlling (emotional controlling and thinking simple), and deepening their own skills. (2) In preceding studies, it was clarified that deepening operating skills and acquiring negotiation skills were effective for clerks to expand their career range (Asaumi, 2006). On the other hand, skills for operational efficiency and successful human relationship for mutual aids were more important for women at the stage of childcare. (3) Skills were acquired from 6 learning methods, experiential learning, observational learning, learning from media, attending training courses, interactional learning, and unintentionally-incidental learning which were brought by rearing children. Those were similar to the one for practical intelligence (Kusumi, 2009). But different point was that they included unintentionally -incidental learning. And comparing with practical intelligence acquisition, they learned from interactional learning more. Because they realized that mutual aids were needed experiencing the difficulty of working at the stage of childcare. (4) Learning method, and acquiring skills had changed as their children's growing and the length of integration with work and childcare. (5) It was implied that working skills were effective for career continuation for women at the stage of childcare. Because they got self-confidence and reduce one kind of guilt feeling through acquiring them.
