In this study, I considered the "experience of relating to young children" at both the beginning and the end of the "Practice of Child Study" class period, using reflections students had. The first report reflected on the current situation where there is a lack of interaction between the generations. Students described "confusion," naive "surprise" and "enjoyment" when they first met young children, and their motivation to learn more about children was raised as a result. The second report showed that the students have taken note of the importance of observing their surroundings from the viewpoints of the children, and they could further their understanding by comparing the behaviors of children with their own knowledge.
