Japan is galloping to the so called aging society, and the problem concerning the aged people will become more serious than in any other countries. The administration, however, has demonstrated that the basic principle of the policy is to rely on the home care. It is true that more senior citizens live together in Japan with the family of their own child than in other countries. Nonetheless, this propensity does not simply lead us to conclude that the aged should be looked after solely by their families. The aim of our study, therefore, is twofold: namely, to clarify the problems originated from the home care of the aged, and to make a new set of policy proposals. These issues in the present paper are discussed and evaluated in terms of Home Management. Our findings are summarised as follows: (1) The home care of the aged person is performed mainly by the woman. More specifically, the daughter-in-law or the daughter of the aged person is the real "take-carer". (2) When the aged is healthy, the take-carer has little mental and physical burden. Rather, the take-carer is sometimes benefitted from the take-caree's contribution to the domestic house keeping, say, the baby-sitting and elese. (3) When the aged is infirm, the take-carer has an excessive mental and physical burden. Such a burden is so heavy that the take-carer sometimes needs to be nursed. (4) The daughter-in-law tends to feel the job being very heavy, while the daughter takes it only a little heavy. Put it another way, the daughter-in-law feels mental burden more than the daughter of the aged. (5) Both the take-carer and the take-caree are not willing to rely on the facility care. Based on our findings, we propose the followings: I: In the case of the home care (1) The home care will not work efficiently without good support by day care and shortest service. (2) It is also important to expand the home-help system. II: In the case of the facility care (1) The location of such a facility is to be in the city area and closer to nursery schools. (2) Each institution sholud not accept too many aged, and the size is suggested to be small.
