The purpose of this study is to consider the forming process of Shiro Kawada's view on the gender issue. Specifically, it focuses on the problems of education and labor of women. Kawada's view on the gender issue can be divided into three stages. In the first stage, he criticized the gender role division and insisted on the development of the women's education to revolutionize it. In the second stage, he demanded women worker's improvement of labor conditions. In addition, he developed the discussion over women's rights. It was woman worker's safe motherhood that he had insisted on. In the third stage, it was clarified that Kawada's view on women's issues had changed. That is, he denied that the married women work, and admitted the gender role division.
