In order to make a conclusion about which consumption function is better to explain the situation of the economy, this thesis will discuss the forming process of the absolute income hypothesis (Keynes), relative income hypothesis (J.S.Duesenberry), permanent income hypothesis (Milton Friedman) and Life-cycle hypothesis, and also concern the dispute about these theories.
