Description

The distribution of N－isopropyl－p [123Ⅰ] iodoamphetamine (123Ⅰ－IMP) shows proportion of the local cerebral blood flow (l－CBF), and single photon emission computed tomography can quantify the regional activity of 123I－IMP. The 123I－IMP SPECT images were obtained in 9 patients with dementia. Multiple infarction dementia cases showed diffused hypoperfusion area centering white matter and basal ganglia, then Alzheimer type dementia patients were recognized decreased l－CBF of temporoparietal region. The l－CBF measurement with 123l－IMP is useful method that distinguish the type of de-mentia, and may clarify the pathogenesis of dementia diseases.
