複数衛星による極冠域アークの同時観測データを観測する事によって以下の諸点が明らかになった。(1)シータ型オーロラは南北両半球で同時に, しかも共役的に現れる。(2)極冠域アークの電子群は南北両半球で同程度に, 沿磁力線電場により加速されている。(3)極冠域アークの加速域は比較的地球に近い領域に(高度数千Km以下に)形成される。又, これらの観測結果に基ずいて極冠域アークを説明するモデルを考察した。

Using the multi-satellite (EXOS-C, Viking, DMSP) data, we have investigated the conjugacy and the accerelation region in the polar cap region. Observations indicated that the polar cap arcs were conjugate in both hemispheres, which suggests that they occur on closed field lines. Particle measurements on the polar cap arc were simultaneously made on the same field line by EXOS-C (500km) and Viking (10,000km). Comparing these data it can be concluded that the acceleration region exists in the altitude range between both satellites.
