Description

The COVID-19 pandemic, which began to prevail in early 2020, has spread all over the world. The infection prevention measures such as the request for self-restraint have also been taken in Japan. As a result, many university classes have moved online, so that students have been able to take courses without going to university. The number of face-to-face meetings between students and teachers or among students has decreased significantly. In July 2020, we surveyed and analyzed the changes in the subjective happiness of university students. This study mainly examins how the changes in SNS usage, hobbies, study efficiency, access to people, income, sleeping hours, and dietary habits affect student's happiness. A total of 144 answers extracted by a convenience sampling method from all over Japan was collected and analyzed. As a result, there was a slight correlation between happiness and changes in hobbies, study efficiency, and contact with people. However, the subjective happiness of students was not significantly affected. We found that students maintained their happiness while taking actions to mitigate changes in their situation.
