It is true that modern science, typically the Carnegie School, precludes value premises thoroughly. But when it comes to describing the“dynamic equilibrium,”i.e. evolutional change, established scientific methods are not enough. That is why they focus on“what”and “how”but leave“why”black box. Reviewing the two well-known concepts of“field of personal forces”and“zone of indifference”by Chester I. Barnard (1938) critically, we point out that these concepts are useful enough to explain the state of organization equilibrium, but not to its dynamism. Instead, studying the case of startup of Kyocera Corporation, we introduce an alternative concept, that is“the center of the gravity of organizations.”It is the function of aspiration, love, ethos, and time perspective.
