From the relative intensities of spectral lines of AgI and CdI observed in an arc at breaking of Ag-CdO contact, the ratio of the particle density of neutral atoms, NAg/Nod, has been estimated in this arc column. In addition, the particle density of Cd atoms per all of particle density of neutral atoms, γ(γ=Nod/NAg+Nod) has been calculated in order to consider the evaporation process from the electrodes in this contact arc. The value of NAg/Nod changes about 2 to 15 with the increase of current through the contact, and does not change much against the change of the voltage and CdO wt%. In general, the particles of Ag atom have a large number in this arc column at breaking of contact in case of several mill-second order. γ obtained from the calculation in case of the stational evaporation was compared with γ obtained from this experiment. As a result of this, γ≪γ' was found, and it was confirmed that the evaporation from the arc spot in contact arc does not belong to the process of the stational evaporation.
