Abstract

This paper considered social work research from the following three points. (1) The purpose and object of social work research. (2) Relevance of data and an analysis method. (3) Connection of the research purpose, a research question, and analysis method. The structure of research was illustrated from the contents of consideration, and it summarized to the following four points. (1) The researcher set up a "subject of research" by being conscious of "a phenomenon" as a problem about social work research. (2) The researcher collect required data by facing "a phenomenon" based on a "research question". (3) A researcher infers with reference to the "theoretical framework" relevant to social work, and draws a "conclusion". (4) By a "conclusion", the researcher solves a "research question", and sets up a new "subject of research" and "research question". In addition, this paper can be regarded as consideration about the scientific attitude to a social worker's practice. It is because social work practice is not performed by an individual's interpretation but it is carried out based on the scientific reasoning which social work has.
