抄録

江戸時代初期に隠元と共に来日した獨湛は、のちに黄檗山萬福寺第四世となる。作福念仏図を用いて念仏教化をしたところから念仏獨湛ともよばれる彼は、中国禅浄双修の流れを汲みながらも、日本浄土宗の高僧たちとも交流をもち、多くの著作と絵画を残している。その著作は語録と伝記に大別することができる。それらを蒐集し全集とした上で本稿では各著作に解題を付し、また若干の考察を加え、獨湛研究の基礎作業とした。

The fourth chief monk of Obaku-san Manpuku-ji temple, Dokutan (1628–1706) came to Japan in the early Edo period with Ingen. As he spread Nembutsu practice by the Safuku Nembutsu Zu, he is called Nembutsu Dokutan. Although he belongs to the Chinese Buddhist tradition that practices both Zen and Pure Land, he has connections with eminent monks of Japanese Pure Land sect Jodo-shu, and left many books and pictures of Pure Land teaching. As a basic phase of the study on Dokutan, this paper has annotated his written works.
