Abstract

This study examines the ideal way of sustainable community development and adult and community education, which are themes common to Japan and South Korea. The South Korean region to be studied is developing sustainable community development based on the education of alternative schools. We conducted a joint survey from 2009 to 2010. As a result, I learned that the revitalization of education leads to the revitalization of the region. A joint survey was conducted again in 2019. As a result, we were able to confirm the following three changes in the last 10 years. First, the educational reform of public elementary schools was in progress. Second, a new organization was functioning to help young people continue to live in the area. Third, a place was created for residents to discuss the future of the region.
