No systemic report has been made about Clonorchiasis observed in the Choshi city area, a part of the Tone Valley, since few cases of the Clonorchiasis ware reportedly encountered there. It was noted by the author that there were relatively large number of patients who manifested the gall-bladder and bile duct symptoms along with hepatomegalies. In order to clarify the symptoms, the duodenal juice was scrutinized on 162 patients with such symptoms. Ova of the Clonorchis were found in 47 (29%) of the 162 patients examined. Among the A, B and C bile tested, the ova were shown to be present in the B, C and A bile in decreasing incidence. And the ova were demonstrated both in the B and C bile in majority of the cases. The gall-bladders and bile ducts of the Clonorchiasis were studied radiologically in regards.to delineation, size, shape, location and contractility. None of the X-ray findings was specific to the Clonorchiasis. However it should reminded that 88% of the Clonorchiasis showed certain abnormalities on X-ray films. Eighty eight percent of the cases were attended by the gall-bladder or bile duct complications, or both. As for gastric acidity, the patients revealed hypo or anacidity in general and it was alike the gastric acidity seen on the patients with biliary tract parasites. Combined infestations of the Clonorchiasis and other intestinal parasites were relatively rare and were observed on 15% of the entire cases. From these studies, the Choshi city area is recognized to be contaminated by Clonorchis. And the Clonorchis is shown to be one of the important causative agents of the gall-bladder and bile duct diseases in the Choshi city area.
