Sixty two cleft lip and one hundred and thirteen cleft palate patients have been operated during the past eleven years from 1965 to 1976. The anesthetic problems for cleft lip and palate surgery were investigated. 1) Cleft lip operations were clone for 3 to 6 months' babies and cleft palates operation for 1 to 3 years' children in most of cases. 2) There were not serious pre-operative complications. 3) Anesthesia was induced with halothane and nitrous oxide in most of cases and maintained with same anesthetics in cleft lip and palate repairs, during anesthesia, a mean dose of epinephrine of 2.66μg/kg was injected around the operative field in order to minimize the hemorrhage. Arrythmia was not appeared on electrocardiogram. 4) Using epinephrine, hemorrhage during operation was decreased significantly. 5) Orotracheal intubation was done in all cases since 1972. 6) 26 cyanosis were appeared during anesthesia caused by tube trouble. 7) There was one case of death, revealed hypoxia during anesthesia at post-operative period.
