バブル崩壊直後の1992年,「複合不況」という造語を冠して話題となった著書の中で宮崎義一は,世界経済の構造変化を的確にとらえ,日本のバブル経済の発生と崩壊がこうした構造変化によって不可避的に生み出された帰結であることを鮮やかに示した。宮崎のいう構造変化とは,「1970年以降,世界経済を動かす力が,もはや財・サービスの取引(実需取引)ではなく,金融面での取引に大きく移行したこと」,「モノの経済にとってかわって,おカネの経済が世界経済のリーディング・ファクターとなってきたこと」を指す。それから20年。モノの経済からおカネの経済への流れは加速度的に増し,2008年にはアメリカの「サブプライム・ローン問題」を引き金にした世界的金融危機も起こった。いまやことの成りゆきは誰の目にも明らで,この間の経済構造の変化をあらわすキーワードとして,「新自由主義」,「グローバル化」と並び,世界経済の「金融化」ということばが人口に膾炙するようになった。もちろん,こうした金融化の流れが世界の経済活動に重大な影響を及ぼしてきたのは事実である。だが,問題は狭く経済の領域にとどまらない。こうした変化はそもそもの私たちの経済活動が営まれる社会や自然環境の領域にまで及ぶものである。飢えや貧困,環境問題など多面的な視角から長年にわたり世界経済への警鐘を鳴らし続けてきた著述家スーザン・ジョージは,こうした事態を,次のような大きさの異なる同心円を重ねた図を用いて的確に説明している。図の同心円は内側ほど重要性が低いものとして,外側に行くほど優先順位が高くなるもの

The main subject of this essay is to reconsider Veblen's theory ofownership, particularly the concept of "absentee ownership", in orderto explore the possibility of alternative society. As Gerald A. Epsteinsaid, "In the last thirty years, the economies of the world have undergoneprofound transformations. ... In short, this changing landscapehas been characterized by the rise of neoliberalism, globalization, and financialization"(Epstein 2005, p. 3). But, around the beginning of the20th century, Thorstein Veblen had already foreseen these transformations.According to Veblen's interpretation, the great transformationsof the social order mainly resulted from the proliferation of absenteeownership. So, this essay wants to make a critical reexaminationof the Veblen's concept of absentee ownership, and to show anotherway of changing society. In conclusion, it refers to the need oftaking back property, in other words, the need of commoning(producingand reproducing commons)
