This oral history was provided by Mr. Sormajav (1934, born in Ejene) on May 1st, 2005. Here, Mr. Sormajav describes his life, his adoptive parents and his grandfather. He refers to his adoptive father's various experiences, including educational experiences in Mongolia, moving across the border between China and Mongolia, and having met with Chiang Kai-shek (Jiang Jie Shi) as representative of the Ejene district. In addition, it portrays the extent of the change that occurred, especially since establishment of the People's Republic of China. As a youth, Mr. Sormajav went to school before the Communist Party was established, and whoever had received higher education was viewed by society as an intellectual and thus had to spend their “youth" as criminals in a prison and forced labor camp for ten or more years due to the Cultural Revolution. How was his experience of the hardship in prison and the labor camp? How did he clear himself of the false charges? He describes how the false charges were made and his hard experiences in vivid detail. This account represents the social history of the minority area near the border of China in the 20th century.
