From 1951, although India was facing tough times as it had just won the independence, Indian government was giving scholarship to young foreign students to come to study. Some Japanese who later became eminent scholars in Japan came to India as overseas students. What did they learn in India? I will trace their journey through the documents which were kept in Indian National Archives in New Delhi and others.
