説明

Pulse wave is one of the most important indices which can be monitored noninvasively.\nSince the wave is controlled by the autonomic nervous system, it is dependent on various\nfactors such as physical and mental conditions. Here the theoretical background of the\nwave and several methods for measuring the optical signals in addition to our recent\nstudies were provided. Over 100 years ago, Otto Frank designed the Windkessel model of\narterial circulatory system assumed to be the circuit contained a water pump connected to\nan air-chamber. Many electrical circuits equivalent to the model were proposed. The\nsimplest model was a Resistor-Capacitor parallel circuit. The analytical and numerical\nsolutions were described in brief. Innovation of the modern technologies permit us\nmeasuring the pulse wave remotely. At present these methods are in the early stage\napplied for nonverbal communication tool as a welfare technology or in-vehicle system\npreventing drowsiness.
