Description

A library program is made by which adaptive mesh refinement technique can be easily applied to existing simulation codes based on finite difference or finite volume scheme. The library program is made independently of user defined time integration scheme. Thus the library program has wide applicability to simulation of various time evolution problems: viscous or inviscid fluids, MHD, combustion, and so on. To perform several accuracy tests for this code, integration and interpolation algorithms were improved. As an example, the possibility of a finite time blow-up in 2D ideal Boussinesq equations by the adaptive mesh code is investigated. In each direction 221 grids can be used effectively. Results suggest that the temperature gradient and vorticity diverge as (t(sub 0) - t)(exp -2) and (t(sub 0) - t)(exp -1), respectively. In the initial stage, temperature-vorticity sheets are formed are known to grow exponentially at most. An instability of the sheets can be observed, which is considered as the source of a finite time blow-up.
