- Function of Money and Benevolence Rules in Middle Age Era

Abstract
This is th epreliminary essay to explore the another way of explanation of the function of money, by mentioning the historical events, such as the benevolence rules introduced by the Middle Age central authorities in japan. The benevolence rules forced a creditor to cancel out or reschedule the debt repayments, which contradicts the principal of the exchange economy and limits the functions of money as the exchange medium. We conclude the textbook explanation for market mechanism is effective to deal with this issue and the benevolence rules can be categorized into two types, according to the preference order.
