Effectiveness of teaching methods in two classes on Calculus I as a compulsory mathematics subject of a Department in the HIT has been investigated. The two classes are formed by students as groups who have almost equal academic achievement scores’ distribution in the freshpeople math placement test examined in April. Even in such classes there are about 40 percent students who do not understand high school mathematics properly. The present evaluation is made mainly through two regular examination sheets which are totally common for the two classes. It is realized that the teaching manner will affect students’ performance positively and hence, before starting classes, serious concrete discussion on teaching manner along mathematical contents should be done. Furthermore, the small group class organization(i.e., consisting of less than 30 students)will be needed beyond several teaching manner.
