Targeting elementary school students，parents and university students，I conducted surveyson their consciousness toward Japanese school bags and visual sensory tests regarding theimages of the bags.The results are as follows. Elementary school girls want to use bags with their favoritecolors，while elementary school boys are not interested in the color of the bags and have nodesire to assert themselves through their clothes. Girls prefer pastel-color bags，and boys likeblack，indicating that boys are more conservative.Comparison of consciousness toward school bags between parents and university studentsrevealed that university students were more conservative toward children's school bags andclothes，while parents tended to respect children's individualities.There was commonality in female university students' emphasis on the fashion feature ofschool bags and elementary school girls' desire to assert themselves through colorful bags.
