Hollow cathodes (H/C: Hollow Cathode) are necessary to maintain and neutralize the operation of the Hall thruster, and H/C with better electron generation efficiency is used. The orifice is eroded and heated by the collision of energetic ions. Orifice erosion is related to the lifetime of the cathode, so it is necessary to understand the operating conditions. The orifice temperature is also related to the insert temperature and plasma condition, and the temperature characteristics are important for the evaluation of cathode operation characteristics and lifetime. In this study, the orifice surface temperature was measured externally in a non-contact manner to clarify the cause of wear and tear, and the temperature characteristics were evaluated.
