Abstract

This article is regarding a research of how the performance of the Symphony No.8(9) C major “The Great", which is representative symphony of the Classical era composed by Franz Shubert (1797 ～ 1828), has changed in the past 100 years. The Performance with the historical knowledge of the instruments, method of playing and custom at the time of composition is called Historically Informed Performance (HIP), and this research revealed how HIP has been prevalent by using 8 published music scores and 177 recordings.
