Abstract

This study aims to manifest the distinctiveness through a comparative analysis with customer reviews exhibited on business-to-consumer transaction (hereinafter denoted as B2C transaction) platforms. With the proliferation and pervasiveness of ICT, C2C transactions have witnessed a surge in activity. In this paper, focus will center on the online handmade market, an online C2C trading platform. It uses morphological analysis and sentiment analysis to analyze customer reviews posted for sellers who have online shops and sell products on both this platform and Amazon, a B2C trading platform. It has become clear that even for the same product provided by the same seller, customer reviews posted differs depending on the platform. These outcomes insinuate that product information functions as a communication directed at sellers, rather than as a repository of product insights valuable to prospective consumers, as posited in extant scholarship.
