Description

From the concentration of COD 75% and Total nitrogen of the Lake Arimine, the Lake Arimine maintains the environmental standard A type and is in the state of an oligotrophic lake. However, the water color of the Lake Arimine was green to yellowish green, and it seemed that phytoplankton was abundant. At the Lake Arimine, it was estimated that the inflowing rivers and conducted water passed from the surface to a depth of about 20 m of the Lake Arimine from spring to autumn. Since the water for power generation is taken from the surface of Lake Arimine during this period, it is considered that the water at lower layer rises to the water surface and supplies nutrients to phytoplankton to increase of amount. In order to maintain the water quality of Lake Arimine, it was considered necessary to conserve the forest in the catchment area and reduce the outflow of nutrients as much as possible.
