Abstract
Statistical analysis was applied to numerical evaluation data obtained at Kyoto University during the Winter term 2002. Using principal component analysis, it can be argued that the data is concisely judged by the first principal component (general measure) and other negative components. In this case they are named as 'conformist' and 'stray sheep', respectively. In a factor analysis of the course evaluation, three factors were obtained as determinants of the evaluation. These could be interpreted as factors of 'attraction', 'comprehension', and 'interaction of teachers'. These results may be utilized to represent the comparative characteristics of individual courses.
