[概要] 石炭採掘に伴って発生する不要な石や岩の集積場であるボタ山は, 巨大な量塊としての存在感から炭鉱地帯を象徴するランドマークとなっている. 筑豊炭田にあり「筑豊富士」の異名を持つ旧住友忠隈炭鉱のボタ山は, わが国最大級のボタ山であり, 現在でも標高100mを超えるその遺構を随所より遠望することが可能である. 本稿では, この「筑豊富士」の可視域の同定を課題とした. 「筑豊富士」の可視マップを作成した結果, 地元である飯塚市の市街地の大部分が可視域に含まれることを確認した. [Abstract] A slag heap is waste material formed as a by-product of coal mining. Because of overwhelming enormousness, it is a landmark of coal mining region. "Mt. Chikuho Fuji " (slag heap of Sumitomo Tadakuma Coal Mine) located on the Chikuho Coalfield, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu Island, is the biggest slag heap in Japan. Because its height, which still exceeds 100 m, we can see it from everywhere. The purpose of this paper is to identify the visible area of "Mt. Chikuho Fuji ". To this end, I made visibility maps of "Mt. Chikuho Fuji ". The results confirm that most of the city areas of Izuka-shi (hometown of "Mt. Chikuho Fuji ") are included in the visible area of "Mt. Chikuho Fuji ".
