抄録

[Abstract] Recent college graduates in Japan have been considered to have escaped the tough job market that followed the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, a period often referred to as "the second ice age" for job seekers (The first ice age was the 1990s, after the collapse of Japan's "bubble economy".) However, employers are showing signs of becoming increasingly selective in their hiring, strengthening their interview processes to recruit only those with the ability to adapt to the realities of a given position. These changes are being made in response to the increasing number of new hires leaving their jobs. This paper reports on the experiences of two female students who recently graduated from college and began working in the competitive media industry. Further, it discusses three important points of career advice: Students should be encouraged to choose their career path early, participate in various activities outside school, and learn to express themselves creatively.
