In recent years, information technology, such as the internet, has influenced the activities of a Taiwanese Buddhist group. Focusing on the Fo Guang Shan Temple group, which includes structures such as temples, monasteries, and small alters, I consider the globalization of this organization and how they are constructing an international network. After the mid-1990's, the Fo Guang Shan temples expanded their organization rapidly. This was enabled by the global Chinese network, Taiwanese democratization advanced by Li Denghui (who became president of Taiwan in 1988), and the development and spread of Internet technology and use. Many branches all over the world are connected with the headquarters in Taiwan through a website on the Internet. I consider how recent years' development of information technology and its spread are having an influence on the Fo Guang Shan international movement.
