The principal impurities X…As, Fe, Pb and Cu… in an Sb rod refined by the zone-refining method were concentrated at the tail. They were colorimetrically determined after 3～6 zone passes at the two speeds, 35mm/hr and 70mm/hr. As was a little difficult element to be removed but Fe, Pb and Cu were effectively done. The effective segregation coefficient k, calculated from the present work are given as follows : [numerical formula] They were in fairly good agreement with the equilibrium segregation coefficients derived from the binary phase diagrams of Sb-X systems.
