The uraniferous ores from the Maeda Pit, Matsuiwa Mine, Miyagi Prefecture were examined by means of low-intensity magnetic separation, sulphide flotation, desliming, and soap flotation tests. The results obtained are as follows : (1) The larger parts of uraninite present in the rougher concentrates from low-intensity magnetic separation and chalcopyrite flotation are composed of slimy particles and may be removed by cleaning. (2) The uraninite contained in the 325 mesh oversize fraction of the tailing from the sulphide flotation is concentrated in the maganetic fractions separated by Frantz isodynamic magnetic separator with the magnet having the side slope of 15° and the forward slope of 25° and the exciting current ranging from 0.6 to 1.0A (8,000~13,000 oersteds). (3) The overall metallurgical results obtained in low-intensity magnetic separation, sulphide flotation, desliming, and soap flotation show that the pyrite concentrate and some of the concentrates from soap flotation may be regarded as uraninite concentrates analyzing about 0.1% U_3O_8 and the distribution of U_3O_8 in these concentrates amounts to about 42%.
