This experiment was carried out by using both liquid column chromatograph as a continuous flow calorimeter and continuous ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrometer. The unactivated sphalerite adsorbed ethyl-xanthate ions and coincidentally heat was emitted, but these adsorbed ions left the sphalerite by washing and cooling occurred coincidentally. These phenomena were observed clearly on the oxidized sphalerite and a little on the clean sphalerite. Ethyl-xanthate ions which adsorbed on the activated sphalerite with cupric ions did not leave by washing. It was found that on the activation of sphalerite with cupric ions, there were cupric ions which replaced zinc ions in chemical reaction and which adsorbed physically on the sphalerite surface. The cupric ions which adsorbed physically or which replaced zinc ions on the sphalerite surface could be easily removed with cyanic ions at a concentration of 2×10^<-4> mole per liter and heat was emitted coincidentally. But when ethyl-xanthate ions adsorbed on the activated sphalerite, it might be more difficult to remove completely the adsorbed or replaced copper ions from its surface at the same concentration.
