本論文は、井上円了の『哲学一夕話』第一編を読むことによって彼の中道哲学を理解しようとするものである。Focusing on the first chapter of Inoue Enryō's Tetsugaku Issekiwa, this paper attempts to interpret his concept of the Middle Way.

Based on the philosophy of the Middle Way, Inoue Enryō (1858‒1919) argued the relations between things and minds of the world. Focusing on the first chapter of his Tetsugaku Issekiwa, this paper attempts to interpret his concept of the Middle Way. It is self-evident that there are different perceptions about fundamental principles of the world such as idealistic monism, dualism, and pluralism. According to Inoue, however, none of them are the truth. All these perceptions are embraced in the philosophy of the Middle Way. In this realisation of the Middle Way which is represented by the "A and non-A" logic, those perceptions are considered the same. Consequently, Inoue advocated a fundamental principle enryō 円了 which is a synonym for shin'nyo 真如 in Buddhism.
