抄録

After the Russo-Japanese War, the Japanese took possession of Karafuto and obtained the fishery rights to Primorskaya Oblast’, one of the world’s important fisheries. Since salt is an ancient and important method for preserving food, prosperous fisheries consumed enormous amounts of salt. With the success of transit trade, British and Spanish salt acquired a large share of the market at the time. After 1905, however, the Japanese Government started to promote salt production, which made Taiwanese salt increasingly important. This paper will reveal the process of the Taiwanese salt exports to Primorskaya Oblast' and Karafuto during the Japanese period.
