説明

Minh Hương and Thanh Hà, two hamlets of the village of xã Hương Vinh along the riverside, used to function as the outer port in the northern suburb of Huế. The Tianhau temple and the Guan Yu temple, which were built as symbolic representations of borders, are in Minh Hương, a village of Vietnamese residents of Chinese descent. A basic survey of geographic information, textual materials and situation of religious beliefs has been conducted there. The two temples are facilities for religious beliefs with a history of more than 200 to 300 years. While the Tianhau temple is even now an object of faith among the mass of people of Chinese descent, the Guan Yu temple retains a strong character as an object of faith among the native Ðịa Linh residents. The historical and cultural background of the difference between the two temples should be explored.
