本研究の目的は，JICA の大学連携プログラムにおいて，短期ボランティアとして派遣される学生および学生を受け入れる青年海外協力隊員の双方にとって有益な実践とするため短期海外研修をデザインするための要件を提案することである．双方にとって有益な実践とは，学生たちが現地での社会貢献活動に十全的に参加し経験できることであり，受け入れ隊員にとっては日々の実践を拡張し発展させることである．具体的には，2014 年2 月に関西大学がセネガルで実施したプロジェクト型の短期海外研修を事例として，大学側および受け入れ隊員の双方にとって有益な連携の可能性について考察する．そのために，次の2 点を明らかにする．ひとつはプログラムに参加した学生の学びである．大学が教育プログラムとして実施する上で本プログラムが有益であるかどうかについて，学生の学びに焦点をあてて評価を行う．ふたつめは，受け入れ隊員にとっての利点である．途上国での活動経験が少なく，専門知識や技術が十分にない学生を受け入れることは，受け入れ隊員にとって大きな負担となるが，大学との連携は受け入れ隊員にとって新しい活動への展開となる可能性がある．インタビューおよび参与観察をもとにこの2 点を明らかにした上で，双方にとって有益な実践をデザインするための要件を学習環境のデザインとして提案する．In this study, the authors discuss the method to design a short‒term overseas service learning program in collaboration with the Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers （JOCV）. The authors’ research is based on a case study conducted by Kansai University in Senegal in February 2014. Two undergraduate students from the university were dispatched to Senegal to work with a member of the JOCV, who is engaged in a medical clinic as an audiovisual expert. To design a reciprocal practice for both students and the JOCV, the authors clarified the following aspects: first, knowledge gained by the students during the collaborative practice. Second, benefits gained by the JOCV from this practice. The authors analyzed data collected through interviews and participatory observation based on action research and suggested the method to design a reciprocal practice for both the students and the JOCV in a collaborative practice.
