Description

We investigated relationships between vividness of visual mental images and durations of after-images. The vividness was measured by the Japanese version of VVIQ. Half of the items on VVIQ were answered under the Drawing condition. The others were answered under the Star condition. Smaller ratings of VVIQ indicate more vivid images. The results showed significant correlation between the totals of the ratings on Drawing condition and durations of after-images. The results suggest two possibilities stated below. 1: One could generate only vague visual images when one’s after-effects were robust. 2: One’s after-effects were easy to decay when one could generate vivid images.
