抄録

Process of career change in young adult women was investigated through an interview survey. Our research questions were as follows.(1)How do women advance through career changes,(2)How do women form an occupational identity,and(3)Why do women change their careers. Participants(n=6: range,26 to 34 years)were single women that returned to undergraduate or graduate education after a period of employment. We interviewed the participants about the episode "Career change" and data were analyzed by using the modified grounded theory approach. Results indicated that the participants were dissatisfied with their situation and desired a different lifestyle and a new career. At the time, they hesitated but wanted to persevere. In addition, they returned to university education through the support, or because of pressure from important others. It is concluded that these women were responding to the reality of their situation.
