From the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, Germany produced great thinkers and theorists on women and family issues regardless of class or sex. In this paper, the authors take up August Bebel and Marianne Weber who did not share the same views on these issues. The former represents a male intellectual of the German proletariat; the latter stands for that of a woman of the German bourgeoisie. In this paper, the authors investigate important theoretical points of contact between August Babel's masterpiece "Die Frau und der Sozialismus" and Marianne Weber's "Ehefrau und Mutter in der Rechtsentwicklung."
